PREVIEW: Matt and Kim Return to South Florida at Culture Room

Matt and Kim return to the road after four years

Indie-pop duo Matt and Kim are hitting the road this Fall for the first time in four years. The Brooklyn-based musicians released their debut record “Grand” in 2009 featuring the smash hit “Daylight” and have been steadily dropping synthpop bangers over the span of their career. On their first foray back on tour, the band’s signature party atmosphere has featured singer/keyboardist Matt Johnson’s anthemic vocals and drummer Kim Schifino bombastic rhythms. While the infectious choruses deliver absolute earworms, a Matt and Kim concert is not simply the duo performing the hits but in the past their shows have featured balloon drops, unhinged cover songs and absolute acrobatics from the band on stage. Check out our recap of a previous Matt and Kim show here to see how wild the band gets.

Of the tour, Matt says, “THIS TOUR IS GONNA BE SO RIDICULOUS! And we mean that in the best way possible! Been putting together every M&K song you’d want to hear and mixing in LOTS of surprises.”

Matt and Kim’s “Matt and Kim Present: THE MATT AND KIM TOUR Feat. Matt and Kim” comes to South Florida’s Culture Room on September 16 with tickets available here. Opening the show are southern queer punk proteges Babe Haven.
