Montreal post-punk group Ought announced their dissolution after nearly 9 years as a band in a statement released via Instagram. I had previously covered them on this blog opening for Waxahatchee/Swearin’ side project P.S. Elliot who have also broken up following their final tour.

Singer/guitarist Tim Darcy and bassist Ben Stidworthy have found a new group with U.S. Girls drummer Evan Cartwright called Cola, and released a single “Blank Curtain ” which takes the minimalist compositions of Ought to new territory, with a driving drum/bass combo droning beneath Darcy’s guitar strums. 

Cola will be making their live debut at Brooklyn venue Baby’s All Right on November 16, with tickets available here.
