Against Me! Shape Shifted at Rough Trade

With their latest record “Shape Shift With Me”, Against Me! brought the sound of their album to Brooklyn’s Rough Trade outpost. Album release shows are a tricky territory, but Against Me! tackled it, leaving no fan unhappy at the end of their set. Lead by Laura Jane Grace (she/her) the quartet the band ripped through “333” off “Shape Shift” as well as, “Haunting, Haunted, Haunts”, and the surprise “Rebecca.” While their latest is a more introverted analysis of romance, their last record “Transgender Dysphoria Blues” weaves a narrative about Grace’s transition and gender dysphoria. Playing heavily between both records, the band closed out with “Walking Is Still Honest” off of their 2002 debut record “Reinventing Axl Rose.”
