The Meadows Is NYC’s Hottest New Festival

Late in 2015, rumors about a music festival being held by Founders Entertainment being held in Flushing-Meadows Corona Park in Queens were abound. The Gov Ball team even went as far as petitioning to Mayor Bill De Blasio about keeping rival Coachella founders AEG from having an event in the space around the same time as Governors Ball.

Eventually, AEG would move their new festival, Panorama to Randall’s Island, the home of Gov Ball for the past four years, but wouldn’t take place until late July at the tail end of the fest season. However, with Gov Ball having been acquired by Live Nation, the Founders Entertainment channelled their energy into a two day festival in Flushing-Meadows, Queens.

After rain forced the cancellation of Kanye’s Governors Ball headlining set this year, along with a near-riot outside of Webster Hall before a proposed surprise concert, West is scheduled to bring his Saint Pablo tour after two nights at Madison Square Garden. Alongside him is a bevy of primarily electronic/hip hop acts, perhaps a reaction to the guitar-act based Panorama, or even Gov Ball sans the rock artists.

The festival runs at $230 for both days with pre-sale available here 6/22 at 11AM.
