With her debut record “The Fool” released today, singer Ryn Weaver played a show and signing at Rough Trade NYC. Backed by a keyboardist and guitarist, Weaver’s acoustic set in the intimate Brooklyn setting. “I shaved my armpits for this” Weaver exclaimed, raising her arms to the crowd before performing single “Promises.” With a minimal set-up, Weaver’s vocals were allowed an opportunity to show a more muted version of her often brash style. Having played primarily festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo leading up to the release of “The Fool”, members of the audience questioned why her tour didn’t make the rounds to NYC area festival Governors Ball to which she responded “Yeah, why wasn’t I? I live here, maybe next year.” With a much smaller venue, the singer got far more intimate with her fans, taking phones while FaceTime-ing friends that missed out, recording selfie videos while singing, and handing off the mic to enthusiastic members of the audience.
